I completed my Level 3 sports massage therapist qualification at South Devon College in August 2023. My professional journey has taken me from working with private clients to joining the team at Gara Rock Spa in East Portalmouth. Joining Momentum Clinic has been a significant step forward in my career, aligning with my aspirations within the field.
My passion for sports therapy is deeply rooted in my love for Brazilian jiu-jitsu. After countless nights of rigorous training and witnessing the physical strain it can impose on muscles and joints, I became intrigued by the absence of remedial therapies for recovery among fellow practitioners. This motivated me to raise the standard of motion and well-being for gym members and athletes alike.
My overarching goal is to enhance the quality of life for clients, irrespective of their body type or specific needs, whether it’s addressing sports injuries, realigning the body, supporting rehabilitation, or aiding individuals with underlying health conditions. My dedication is to help everyone achieve their optimal physical condition.
Beyond my professional life, I actively engage in Brazilian jiu-jitsu, bouldering, and stand-up paddleboarding. I also cherish moments spent with friends and family and, on occasion, indulge my passion for scuba diving during overseas adventures.
In my practice, I apply a range of sports massage techniques, tailored to individual requirements. These may include specialized approaches such as myofascial release and joint mobilization to aid clients in their journey to recovery and improved motion.
Matthew graduated from the Anglo European College of Chiropractic in 2005 and initially started working in Nottingham and Sheffield, before setting up his own clinic in Newton Abbot in 2010. “Over the years I have worked as a chiropractor I have gained a lot of experience and strive to continuously expand my ‘toolbox’ of treatment modalities to support my chiropractic care and further my knowledge. I still get amazed at some of the results I see and I love what I do, I feel very lucky and privileged to have made a career out of helping people.”
His motivation in practice is to help people of all ages return to what they love to do and to improve the aspects of their life that are detrimental to their overall health.
Matt is registered with the General Chiropractic Council and a Member of the British Chiropractic Association and The European Academy of Chiropractic
